John MacArthur
John MacArthur (1939–2025), American pastor and the leading defender of Lordship Salvation.
He was pastor of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, from 1969 until his death, and his radio ministry Grace to You carried his expository preaching worldwide. His The Gospel According to Jesus (1988) opened the lordship controversy with Zane Hodges and Charles Ryrie, and Faith Works (1993) continued it. Though dispensational in his view of prophecy, he stood with Reformed writers on salvation. He wrote or edited more than 150 books, including the MacArthur Study Bible, and founded The Master’s Seminary.
